The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested a man who falsely presented himself as a police officer and made inciting comments against Edo people on social media.

This is contained in a statement issued by DSP Mansir Hassan, Police Public Relations Officer for the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command.

The command responded to a Facebook post attributed to Hadaina Hussaini (Dan-taki), captioned “Kaduna Police Officer Threatens Retaliation Against Southerners in Uromi Killings,” which circulated widely online.

Police clarified that Hadaina Hussaini is not a member of the Nigeria Police Force or the Kaduna State Police Command.

The uniform he was seen wearing in the post was from his time as a member of the Police Special Constabulary, a voluntary outfit, from which he was dismissed two years ago due to “questionable character”.

“Members of the general public are advised to carefully observe the identity card attached to the uniform which contains the word ‘PSC/KD’, meaning Police Special Constabulary,” the police stated.

They also noted that the photos were posted two years prior to his dismissal.

The suspect is now in custody and will be charged in court after investigations are completed.

“The State Command states categorically that the Nigeria Police Force is a disciplined and regimented organisation committed to upholding law and order and would not condone any form of incitement, hate speech, or threat to the peace and harmony of our dear country,” the police stated.
