The Adamawa State Police Command has launched a full investigation into the brutal killing of Abbas Yuguda, a 35-year-old POS operator, who was attacked and murdered in the Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area.
SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, Police Public Relations Officer for the Adamawa State Command, in a statement confirmed that the incident occurred on March 22, 2025, as Yuguda was returning home from his business.
According to the statement, the deceased was ambushed by a group of armed individuals who inflicted severe head injuries, leaving him to bleed to death.
“Our operatives from the Mayo-Belwa Divisional Police Headquarters responded immediately,” stated SP Nguroje.
“They rushed the victim to Cottage Hospital, Mayo-Belwa, but tragically, he was confirmed dead while receiving treatment.”
Following the incident, one suspect, identified as Umar SNU, was apprehended by angry youths. “Umar SNU was trailed and subdued by a mob before our officers intervened,” SP Nguroje explained.
“He was also taken to the hospital for medical attention and is now assisting with the investigation.”

Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has strongly condemned the violent act, directing a thorough and discreet investigation to ensure all perpetrators are brought to justice.
“We will not tolerate such acts of violence,” CP Morris stated.
“We are committed to finding those responsible and ensuring they face the full weight of the law.”
He also issued a stern warning against mob justice, urging the public to allow the legal system to take its course.
“We urge members of the public to desist from taking laws into their hands,” CP Morris emphasised. “Let the law always take its course.”
The Adamawa State Police Command has called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station, as the investigation continues.
