Police, BOSIEC Strengthen Partnership Ahead of December LG Elections

The Borno State Police Command and the Borno State Independent Electoral Commission (BOSIEC) have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring peaceful, free, and credible local government elections scheduled for December 13, 2025.

According to ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, Police Public Relations Officer, Borno State Command, the Chairman of BOSIEC, Dr Tahiru Shettima, made this known during a courtesy visit to the Police Command Headquarters in Maiduguri on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

Dr Shettima commended the police for their โ€œrelentless efforts in maintaining peace and security across Borno State.โ€

He said the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration and enhancing security arrangements ahead of the elections in all 27 local government areas.

โ€œThe police are our key partners in achieving credible elections,โ€ Shettima said.

โ€œWe look forward to continued support in securing personnel, materials, and voters during the polls.โ€

In response, the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, psc, assured BOSIEC of the Commandโ€™s readiness to provide full security support throughout the electoral process.

โ€œWe will ensure a safe and enabling environment for the elections,โ€ Abdulmajid said.

โ€œConstant communication and credible information sharing between BOSIEC and the police are crucial to the success of the exercise.โ€

He commended the BOSIEC delegation for the visit and reaffirmed the Commandโ€™s dedication to protecting democratic institutions in the state.
