The Nigeria Police has issued a statement debunking circulating rumours and misinformation suggesting the reinstatement of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, FPRO, FHQ, disclosed in a statement that the Special Anti-Robbery Squad remains dissolved on Monday, February 10, 2025.

“The Special Anti-Robbery Squad, which was disbanded on the 11th of October 2020, remains dissolved,” the statement read.

The police urged the public to be cautious of any information regarding the reformation of SARS and to verify the source of such information before accepting it as true.

“To ensure receiving accurate and reliable updates, citizens are advised to follow the official handles of the Nigeria Police Force on social media,” the statement added.

The police force emphasised the importance of staying informed and vigilant.
