The Adamawa State Police Command has commenced an investigation into allegations that a teacher at Aliyu Mustafa Academy, Jimeta-Yola, tortured a student.

The student, Jaafar Bashiri Tofa of SS 1 class, is said to have received severe beating from the teacher and is currently receiving treatment.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Investigation to take over the case for discreet investigation,” a statement from the Adamawa State Police Command said on Saturday.

The Police Commissioner expressed his disapproval of the incident and appealed for calm.

“He urged members of the public, particularly teachers, to avoid anything that will override their official responsibilities,” the statement added. He assured that justice will be served.
