Police Launch Manhunt Over Killing of Popular Figure ‘Zamfara’ in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the tragic murder of Mr Thomas Godwin, popularly known as ‘Zamfara’.

It was disclosed in a press statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, that the incident occurred on the night of Tuesday, April 15, 2025, leaving the community in shock.

According to preliminary police reports, Mr Godwin was attacked by unknown assailants while on his way home. 

He was reportedly beaten with sticks and clubs, which resulted in his untimely death.

The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Dankombo Morris, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to launch a full-scale investigation into the killing.

A dedicated team of detectives has already been deployed to unravel the circumstances surrounding the murder, identify the perpetrators, and ensure they face the full wrath of the law.

The command expressed its deep sadness over the incident and offered condolences to the family of the deceased.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris PSC, (+) has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of investigation (DC SCID) to carry out a full-scale investigation into the incident,” the statement read.

“A team of detectives has been deployed to conduct an investigation and ensure that the perpetrators are identified and brought to justice.”

The Police Command has also appealed to members of the public to come forward with any useful information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.

“The Command, while praying for the departed soul to rest in peace, urges members of the public to give useful information that will aid investigation,” SP Nguroje stated.

The police assured the public of their commitment to ensuring justice is served in this case and urged residents to remain calm while the investigation progresses.
