The Bauchi State Police Command In a joint operation with local security forces, two bandits were neutralised in the Dajin Madan Forest in the Alkaleri Local Government Area.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil on Wednesday.
According to the statement, acting on credible intelligence, the police, in collaboration with Special Hunters, conducted a coordinated operation targeting a suspected bandit hideout.
“During surveillance activities, the operational team encountered suspected bandits, prompting an exchange of fire,” the statement said.
“Two bandits were neutralised, while others sustained injuries and fled the scene.”
The operation resulted in the recovery of one AK-49 assault rifle and nine rounds of live ammunition.
“This operation highlights the commitment of our security forces and community partners to combat banditry and enhance public safety,” said Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad.
“The Nigeria Police Force is steadfast in its mission to collaborate with community stakeholders, thereby ensuring the protection of citizens’ lives and property while holding accountable those involved in criminal activities.”
The police urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
“To combat rising crime rates effectively, we encourage all citizens to view security as a collective responsibility,” the statement added.
“Together, we can work towards creating a safer community where all residents can enjoy peace of mind.” The statement concluded.
