Police Rescue 2 Students, Arrest Kidnapper in Nasarawa

Nasarawa State Police have rescued two students of Federal University Lafia and arrested a suspected kidnapper following a swift operation.

This is contained in a statement issued by SP Ramhan Nansel, Police Public Relations Officer, on Monday.

According to the statement, on March 30, 2024, at approximately 9:20 PM, police received a distress call reporting a kidnapping at a student lodge near Nasara Estate, Tudun Kauri, Lafia.

The victims, Sadiq Adinoyi and Sakina Adinoyi, were abducted by suspected kidnappers.

Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately deployed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and ‘A’ Division, Lafia, to locate and rescue the students.

On April 1, 2025, at about 11:30 AM, following technical intelligence, police conducted a rescue operation in a forest behind the 500 Housing Unit along Doma Road, Lafia.

During the operation, a gun battle ensued between police and the kidnappers. Overwhelmed by police firepower, the kidnappers fled, abandoning the abducted students, who were rescued unharmed.

Police apprehended Ibrahim Musa of Abuni village, Awe Local Government Area, at the scene. He is cooperating with investigators and providing useful information.

CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed praised the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for their successful operation and reiterated the Command’s dedication to combating crime. 

He encouraged officers to maintain their commitment to securing the state.
