Nasarawa State Police have successfully apprehended a kidnapping gang and rescued an eight-year-old boy, Abdulrahman Sani, following a complaint lodged by his father, Alhaji Sani Bello, on March 17, 2025.
Alhaji Bello reported that his son was abducted from the Tudun Wada area of Mararaba on March 15, 2025, and that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of N700,000 for his release.
Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately deployed a team of detectives to investigate the matter.
Acting on credible intelligence, officers tracked the suspects to Keffi, Nasarawa State, where they successfully arrested Surajo Yusuf, 22, and Peter Samuel, 23.
“The swift response of our officers was crucial in securing the safe return of the young victim,” stated SP Ramhan Nansel, Police Public Relations Officer, Nasarawa State Command.
During interrogation, Surajo Yusuf confessed to abducting the boy alone and later enlisting the assistance of Peter Samuel, who was told the child was his nephew.
The victim was rescued unharmed along Nasarawa Road, Keffi, and has been reunited with his family.
“The recovery of these items provides further evidence of the suspects’ criminal activities,” SP Nansel explained.
A search of the suspects’ residence yielded a cache of incriminating items, including Nigeria Correctional Service and Nigeria Immigration Service uniforms and accoutrements, a knife, a Nigeria Correctional Service identification card, a National Identity card, and three ATM cards bearing different names.
“The recovery of these items provides further evidence of the suspects’ criminal activities,” SP Nansel explained.
Commissioner Mohammed commended the officers for their professionalism and swift action, reassuring the public of the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police.
“We are determined to rid our communities of criminal elements,” Commissioner Mohammed asserted. “The safety of our citizens is our top priority.”
The suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
