The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is set to begin training exercises for 10,000 newly recruited police officers across the country, commencing tomorrow, Saturday, April 12th, 2025.
This is contained in a statement issued by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Friday.
The intensive training programme is designed to equip the recruits with the essential skills and knowledge required for effective community service and protection.
In preparation for the training, the Force Headquarters held an orientation ceremony today, Friday, April 11th, 2025, for the Commandants and Directing Staff of the various police colleges and training schools nationwide.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, addressed the attendees virtually, represented by the Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) in charge of the Department of Training and Development (DTD), DIG Frank Mba.
During the orientation, IGP Egbetokun charged the Commandants to fully embrace the ongoing police reforms, maintain the highest ethical standards, and exhibit firm professional conduct throughout the training period.
“The IGP charged the Commandants of the Training Colleges and Schools to embrace the ongoing police reforms, uphold the highest ethical standards, and demonstrate firm professional conduct throughout the course of the training,” stated ACP Adejobi.
The IGP also underscored his administration’s commitment to prioritising the welfare of the recruits during their training, particularly in the areas of feeding and accommodation, ensuring a stable and conducive learning environment.
He urged the incoming recruits to maintain good conduct, adhere to policing ethics, and cultivate a positive character throughout their training and subsequent careers.
IGP Egbetokun expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his dedication to enhancing the operational strength and capability of the Nigeria Police Force, noting that the addition of these 10,000 new officers represents a significant investment in bolstering law enforcement and improving public safety across the nation.
