The Yobe State Government has declared a 24-hour curfew in Potiskum, Gashua, and Nguru towns, effective immediately, due to the deteriorating security situation in the areas as hoodlums hijack protest.
According to a statement signed by Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Brig. Gen. Dahiru Abdussallam (rtd), the curfew is a response to hoodlums taking advantage of ongoing protests to vandalize and loot government and private properties.
The government has directed security agencies to ensure strict enforcement and compliance with the curfew order, urging citizens to remain indoors and abide by the directive to maintain peace in the affected areas and the state at large.
The curfew aims to restore order and prevent further destruction of property and potential loss of life.
Residents are advised to cooperate with security personnel to ensure a peaceful resolution to the situation.
