Shettima Departs Johannesburg for Angola to Attend AU-EU Summit

Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON, has departed Johannesburg for Luanda, Angola, after completing his engagements at the 20th G20 Leaders’ Summit in South Africa. 

This was disclosed on 23 November 2025 in a statement from the Presidency, confirming that he will represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the 7th AU-EU Summit.

The summit, scheduled for 24–25 November in Luanda, will bring together Heads of State and Government from the African Union and the European Union. 

The meeting will also feature young leaders, innovators, and civil society groups.

According to the statement, this year’s summit will focus on shared global and regional challenges, including climate change, inclusive development, infrastructure, the digital economy, creative industries, manufacturing, and agribusiness.

Vice President Shettima is expected to return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the summit.
