The National Economic Council (NEC) has approved ₦100 billion for the rehabilitation of training institutions for the police and other security agencies, pending final ratification by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The decision was announced in a State House statement issued by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications (Office of the Vice President), on 3 December 2025.

The approval followed a presentation by the NEC Ad-Hoc Committee on Security Training Institutions, chaired by Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, who told the Council that most training facilities across the country are in “dire condition” and require urgent intervention.

NEC also approved ₦2.6 billion for consultancy services tied to the rehabilitation project.

Presiding over the meeting, Vice President Kashim Shettima, who chairs NEC, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening national security through better training infrastructure.

He also urged governors to ensure that economic reforms translate into visible improvements in the lives of citizens.

“Our task is not to admire problems, but to solve them,” Shettima said. “Reforms must become results felt in markets, schools, clinics, and farms across the federation.”

He warned that governance must move beyond “rhetoric to tangible outcomes”.
