Vice President Kashim Shettima returned to Abuja after representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 7th African Union–European Union (AU–EU) Summit in Luanda, Angola, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
Shettima had earlier attended the 2025 G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he also stood in for the President before proceeding to Luanda for the AU–EU meeting.
At the summit, the Vice President delivered President Tinubu’s message calling for Africa to be granted permanent, veto-wielding seats on the United Nations Security Council.
He said global governance systems were “long overdue for comprehensive reform” to reflect current geopolitical realities.
The Vice President is expected to brief the President on outcomes of both engagements.
