Participants from the Army War College Nigeria Course 9/2025 have embarked on an internal security study tour to Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) in Plateau State, aiming to enhance their strategic leadership skills.
This is contained in a statement issued by Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer Operation SAFE HAVEN, on March 25, 2025.
The study tour, which commenced on March 25, 2025, saw the participants welcomed by Major General Folusho Oyinlola, General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN.
Represented by Brigadier General MO Agi, the commander emphasised the importance of the tour in bolstering the participants’ operational capabilities.

“This study tour is crucial for enhancing the participants’ understanding of multi-agency operations,” General Oyinlola stated.
“The theme, ‘Coordination in Multi-Agency Operations: Lessons and Innovations for Nigeria’s Security Landscape,’ is timely and critical to our evolving security challenges.”
He highlighted that effective multi-agency coordination, coupled with strong leadership and mutual respect, is essential for achieving successful security outcomes.
“Effective multi-agency coordination enhances operational efficiency, fosters mutual trust, and delivers better security outcomes,” he emphasised.
“We encourage the participants to actively engage with various agencies during their tour.”
Major General UM Alkali, Commandant of the Army War College Nigeria, explained that the participants are being trained as strategic leaders to address critical gaps.
He deemed the study tour’s theme particularly relevant to Plateau State’s complex security environment.
“The participants are expected to critically analyse the operational brief they receive,” General Alkali said.
“This will enable them to develop innovative solutions to the challenges faced in military formations.”
Colonel EM Akale, speaking on behalf of the participants, expressed gratitude to Operation SAFE HAVEN for the comprehensive operational briefing.
“This internal security study tour will significantly enhance our operational efficiency,” he stated.
The delegation, comprising 10 faculty members, 62 participants, and 14 support staff, will visit various sister agencies in Plateau State during their three-day tour.
The visit included an inspection of the quarter guard, a detailed briefing, the exchange of souvenirs, the signing of the visitors’ book, and a group photograph.
