Suicide Bomber Hits Funeral Procession in Gwoza, Multiple Casualties Reported

A devastating suicide bombing has occurred in Gwoza Local Government Area, targeting a funeral procession for victims of a previous attack.

The bomber, disguised as a mourner, detonated the explosive device, killing at least 18 people and injuring 48 others.

The victims included men, women, and children. The injured are receiving treatment at the Medical Regimental Services (MRS) Clinic before being transferred to Maiduguri for further care.

The Director General of Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Barkindo Muhammad Saidu, has visited the scene of the bomb blast in Gwoza Town.

The first blast occurred during a wedding ceremony at around 3 pm, followed by another explosion at the General Hospital in Gwoza, where the community had gathered for the funeral procession.

The military has imposed a curfew in Gwoza to ensure the town is cleared of any further threats. The community is urged to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities.
