SWAN@60 Seeks Strategic Partnership With Wells Carlton Abuja

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has opened talks with Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments, Abuja, to explore strategic collaboration ahead of its 60th anniversary celebration scheduled for Oct. 29–31.

The move, according to a statement by Chimezie Anaso and Hembadoon Rosario, Chairman and Secretary of the SWAN@60 Media and Publicity Committee, aims to secure corporate partnerships that will enhance the success of the Diamond Jubilee.

SWAN Secretary-General Ikenna Okonkwo said the association was seeking a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship with the hospitality brand.

“SWAN is here to build a partnership that goes beyond the anniversary,” Okonkwo said. “We believe collaborating with a premium brand like Wells Carlton will strengthen our shared commitment to promoting excellence in sports and media.”

Chairman of the SWAN@60 Local Organising Committee Ben Ogbemudia said the partnership reflects the natural bond between sports and hospitality.

“Hospitality and sports have always complemented each other in shaping our national identity,” Ogbemudia said. “This collaboration celebrates that synergy and the media’s role in sports development over six decades.”

In response, Oluwatosin Malomo, Managing Director of Wells Carlton, commended SWAN for its role in advancing sports journalism in Nigeria and expressed readiness to support the initiative.

“Let SWAN formally communicate its proposal,” Malomo said. “We will gladly review it in line with our vision of supporting impactful national causes.”

Other members of the SWAN@60 LOC on the visit included Anietie Patrick, Sylvanus Ofekun, Ndubueze Chidoka, and Arinzechi Chukwunonso.
