Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba on Sunday said that his administration will build a new general hospital in Wukari in place of the one that was converted to a teaching hospital.
He said the hospital, when constructed, will be named after Chief David Kente, a philanthropist who had touched the lives of many people in the state and southern Taraba in particular, and named after Chief David Kente, a renowned philanthropist in southern Taraba.
Kefas made the declaration at the Thanksgiving Service marking the 60th birthday of Kente at the Christian Reform Church of Nigeria (CRCN) in Wukari, Taraba State.
The governor, therefore, requested Chief Kente, a retired director of finance at the National Assembly, to either offer it at a subsidised rate or donate his parcel of land to the government for the project.
He described the celebrant as a philanthropist who had touched many lives positively in the state and beyond.
Kefas encouraged Kente to mentor the up-and-coming ones to grow to be impactful to society.
He advised Kente to continue to be impactful to society, adding that good people preserved good inheritance for their children.
Earlier, Chief Kente appreciated God for sustaining him and giving him the grace to clock 60 years of age.
Chief David Kente had earlier facilitated the freedom of 15 prisoners who were serving their jail terms in Wukari Correctional Centre.
He also gave a N1 million cash donation to cover transportation fare for the freed prisoners.
