A woman has been apprehended by the Taraba State Police Command for allegedly inflicting severe injuries on her step-grandson.

The horrific occurred in the Wukari Local Government Area of the state.

Reports indicate that the suspect used a hot knife to burn the lips of the young boy, identified as Chinecherim Julius.

The extent of his injuries is yet to be fully ascertained.

Condemning the act, Ibrahim Audu Angyu, Senior Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Wukari LGA Chairman, described it as “gruesome and inexcusable.”

He commended the swift action of the local government chairman, Hon. Dauda Agbu Samaila, in ordering the woman’s arrest and ensuring the victim receives medical care.

Angyu emphasized the importance of protecting children from harm and called for a collective effort to create a safe environment for all minors.

The police are currently investigating the matter, and the suspect is expected to face charges upon conclusion of the probe.
