In a show of brotherhood and togetherness, three top Emirs from Northern Nigeria paid a visit to His Royal Highness, the Shehu of Dikwa, Alhaji Ibrahim Ibn Umar Ibrahim El-Kanemi.
According to a statement from the Dikwa Emirate spokesman Abubakar Mala Gajibo, the monarch received the visitors in his Maiduguri palace on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
The Emirs who came calling were the Emir of Argungu, Kebbi State, HRH Alhaji Samaila Mohammed Mera; the Emir of Dutse, Jigawa State, HRH Hameem Nuhu Sunusu; and the Emir of Kanam, Plateau State, HRH Alhaji Muhammadu Mu’azu Muhammadu II.
The Emir of Argungu, HRH Alhaji Samaila Mohammed Mera, who spoke on behalf of the team, stressed the importance of traditional leaders in tackling present-day challenges.
He said:”Traditional rulers have a crucial role in maintaining social harmony and promoting development. Our visit today is a testament to our shared vision of unity and collaboration for the betterment of our communities.”
They were there to congratulate the Shehu of Dikwa on his recent staff of office presentation by the Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum.
More than just congratulations, the get-together of these respected traditional leaders showed a strong dedication to building unity and cooperation among traditional institutions in Northern Nigeria.
Their meeting highlighted the role of traditional rulers in promoting peace, protecting culture, and ensuring stability in the region at a time when working together among leaders is key for national progress.
The Shehu of Dikwa thanked them for the visit, pointing out the strong historical and cultural links between the traditional rulers in the area.
“Our strength lies in our unity. As custodians of tradition and culture, it is our duty to work together in fostering peace, preserving our heritage, and ensuring the development of our people.” The Shehu said.
“I deeply appreciate this visit, as it reaffirms the strong bond between our royal institutions.” He promised to work closely with his fellow monarchs to improve the lives of their people.
The visit is a strong reminder of the lasting power of traditional leadership in governance, settling disputes, and pushing for socio-economic advancement in Northern Nigeria.
