President Bola Tinubu has welcomed the release of the 24 schoolgirls abducted by terrorists in Maga, Sakaba LGA of Kebbi State.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The girls were seized at dawn on November 17, shortly after a military detachment withdrew from the school.
Their abduction sparked copycat kidnappings in Eruku, Kwara State, and Papiri in Niger State.
All 38 abducted victims in Eruku were freed on Sunday, while the Niger State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria confirmed that 50 missing Catholic school students were later found in their parentsโ homes.
President Tinubu commended security agencies for securing the release of the Kebbi schoolgirls and other victims.
He urged them to intensify efforts to rescue those still in captivity.
โI am relieved that all the 24 girls have been accounted for,โ the President said.
โNow, we must put, as a matter of urgency, more boots on the ground in the vulnerable areas to avert further incidents of kidnapping. My government will offer all the assistance needed to achieve this.โ
Security operations are ongoing in the affected areas.
