President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to officially flag off the Unity Torch movement on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, heralding the 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF), “Gateway Games,” scheduled to take place in Abeokuta, Ogun State, from May 16 to 30, 2025.

The National Sports Commission confirmed the dates and location for the prestigious multi-sport event, which will bring together athletes from across Nigeria to compete in various sporting disciplines.

“The Unity Torch movement is a symbolic gesture that signifies the unity and sportsmanship the National Sports Festival promotes,” a statement from the National Sports Commission read.

“President Tinubu’s involvement underscores the government’s commitment to sports development and national unity.”

The “Gateway Games” will serve as a platform for talent discovery, showcasing the best of Nigeria’s athletic prowess. Athletes from all states of the federation will participate, fostering healthy competition and promoting national cohesion.
