Tinubu Welcomes 64,000 Defectors from Opposition Parties into APC

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has welcomed over 64,000 defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and other political parties into the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State.

Represented by Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, the President made the announcement on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, assuring the new members of equal treatment within the party.

โ€œFrom today, you will be treated equally with older members of the APC,โ€ Tinubu said.

โ€œWe are proud of your courage and determination to support the ruling party in its mission for national development.โ€

He reiterated his administrationโ€™s commitment to strengthening security and completing key infrastructure projects, including the Kanoโ€“Maiduguri federal highway, to enhance trade and economic growth.

The APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who led members of the National Working Committee to the event, praised Governor Umar Namadi Danmodi for his developmental strides and urged the defectors to โ€œfeel at home and work for the APC.โ€

In his remarks, Kabiru Ibrahim Masari, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Affairs, called on Jigawa residents to continue supporting the APC government.

โ€œJigawa will keep benefiting from the APC-led administration, which remains committed to improving lives,โ€ he said.

Governor Danmodi thanked the President for his support, declaring that the new wave of defections further cements APCโ€™s dominance in the state.
