Troops Arrest Gun-Runner, Recover AK-47 Rifle in Taraba

Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have arrested a suspected gun-runner and recovered an AK-47 rifle during a raid in Taraba State.

This is according to a statement by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army.

The operation, conducted on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, followed credible intelligence that led soldiers to Shagada Village in Namnai Ward, Gassol Local Government Area.

One 25-year-old, Abdulmudallabi Audu, was apprehended.

Recovered items included one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 53 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition.

โ€œThe suspect and the recovered items are in custody for further investigation and possible prosecution,โ€ the statement said.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their swift action and professionalism, reaffirming the armyโ€™s resolve to sustain โ€œaggressive operations across Taraba State to ensure peace and security.โ€

He also urged residents to support security agencies with credible information to help dismantle criminal networks and restore lasting peace across the Northeastand adjoining regions.
