Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have arrested a suspected gun-runner and recovered an AK-47 rifle during a raid in Taraba State.

This is according to a statement by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army.

The operation, conducted on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, followed credible intelligence that led soldiers to Shagada Village in Namnai Ward, Gassol Local Government Area.

One 25-year-old, Abdulmudallabi Audu, was apprehended.

Recovered items included one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 53 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition.

“The suspect and the recovered items are in custody for further investigation and possible prosecution,” the statement said.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their swift action and professionalism, reaffirming the army’s resolve to sustain “aggressive operations across Taraba State to ensure peace and security.”

He also urged residents to support security agencies with credible information to help dismantle criminal networks and restore lasting peace across the Northeastand adjoining regions.
