In a significant victory against rising criminal activities, troops of 3 Division and Operation SAFE HAVEN have apprehended a notorious cult leader and recovered a lethal firearm in separate operations across Plateau State.

This comes amidst heightened security concerns over planned attacks and rampant criminal activities in the region.

The first breakthrough came on March 20, 2025, when troops, acting on credible intelligence, arrested Fidelis Adamu, a key figure in the notorious “Jungle Boys” cult group.

Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer of Operation SAFE HAVEN, revealed that the group were plotting attacks on prominent individuals, including political office holders and community leaders, in retaliation for the state’s ban on illegal mining.

“We received intelligence that this group was planning a series of attacks,” Major Zhakom stated, “and we acted swiftly to prevent any bloodshed.

Fidelis Adamu was arrested at Angwan Gainyeh in the Sakon-Gyel axis, Jos South LGA. He is currently providing valuable information, and we are pursuing other members of this dangerous group.”

Just three days later, on March 23, 2025, troops engaged another group of criminals at the Youth Centre in Sabon Layi Axis, Mangu LGA, during Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A.

Following a fierce encounter, the criminals were forced to flee. However, one of them, Nashak Wilson, aged 29, was apprehended.

“Our troops responded to reports of criminal activity in the area,” Major Zhakom explained.

“During the operation, we arrested Nashak Wilson, who was armed with an AK-47 rifle loaded with two rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition.”

Further investigation led to the recovery of 30 cows, believed to have been rustled by the criminal syndicate. The recovered livestock has since been returned to its rightful owner.

“We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of the people of Plateau State,” Major Zhakom emphasised.

“These operations demonstrate our resolve to rid the state of criminal elements and create a peaceful environment for all.”

The arrested suspects, along with the recovered firearm and ammunition, are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing.
