Troops Foil Bandit Attack, Kill Suspect in Plateau

Troops of 3 Division, Nigerian Army, under Operation ENDURING PEACE have foiled a planned bandit attack and neutralised one suspected bandit in Plateau State.

The operation was carried out in the early hours of December 25, 2025, at Gwande Community in Monguna District, Bokkos Local Government Area, according to the Media Information Officer of JTF Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom.

Acting on credible intelligence, the troops engaged armed bandits who were mobilising to attack a nearby community, forcing them to flee after a gun battle.

One bandit was neutralised during the exchange, while others escaped with suspected gunshot wounds.

Troops recovered one fabricated revolver rifle, one fabricated pistol, nine rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition and six cartridges from the scene.

Preliminary reports identified the neutralised suspect as a member of a notorious criminal syndicate terrorising Gwande and surrounding communities.

The military said follow-up operations are ongoing to track and arrest the fleeing suspects while reassuring residents of continued protection and urging them to provide timely information to security agencies.
