Troops Foil Boko Haram/ISWAP Attack On Naval Base, Neutralise Scores

Scores of Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists were eliminated in a fierce gun battle during a coordinated counter-terrorism operation by troops of Operation Hadin Kai on Wednesday.

The operation successfully repelled an early morning infiltration attempt on the naval base at Lake Chad, near Fish Dam.
According to a statement by the military, the assault, which began around 2:00 AM, aimed to destroy newly acquired swamp buggies by the Borno State Government, intended for waterways clearance in Lake Chad.

However, personnel from the Naval Base Lake Chad, reinforced by troops from Baga, fiercely resisted the attack. 4

The exchange of gunfire lasted for over two hours.

The terrorists, ultimately failing to gain access to their targets, retreated after suffering significant casualties. Improvised Explosive Device (IED) materials were recovered from the scene.

While the incursion was largely contained, a minimal breach resulted in the destruction of an ambulance and two other vehicles. Several personnel sustained injuries during the engagement.

Following the ground battle, air component platforms are currently conducting pursuit and exploitation operations over the waterways to further decimate the retreating terrorists.
