Troops Repel Attacks, Recover Arms in Plateau

Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) have foiled militia attacks and recovered arms and ammunition in multiple operations across Bokkos and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State.

Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer for Operation SAFE HAVEN, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

According to the statement, on April 2, 2025, troops conducting Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A repelled attacks on Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna, Taddai, and Hurti communities in Bokkos LGA.

During the operation, attackers were forced to abandon an AK-47 rifle and six motorcycles. Troops reported observing blood trails, indicating casualties among the fleeing attackers.

Further operations on April 3, 2025, in Huthe Hurtiommunity resulted in the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol, six rounds of 9mm ammunition, and four motorcycles.

Troops engaged the militia with heavy fire, causing them to scatter.

In a separate operation on April 3, 2025, troops from Forward Operating Base (FOB) Gashish conducted clearance operations at Dome Hill, Rahul Mazat, and Anguwa Mamuda in Barkin Ladi LGA.

Acting on intelligence, troops searched a criminal hideout and recovered a fabricated revolver rifle, a 7.62mm (Spspecialround, and N89,800. The suspects, however, escaped before the troops’ arrival.

Major Zhakom’s statement also revealed that on April 3, 2025, a joint operation by Sector 2 OPSH and local vigilantes along Kampani Zurak Road in Wase LGA resulted in the neutralisation of one bandit and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle magazine and a motorcycle.

“Operation SAFE HAVEN will continue to frustrate the activities of non-state actors and deny them freedom of action in a bid to protect the lives and property of law-abiding residents in the Joint Operations Area,” Major Zhakom concluded.
