Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has commissioned Nigeria’s first-ever large-scale prefabricated housing estate, a 100-unit mass housing project developed by Family Homes Funds and executed by Karmod Nigeria.
The innovative estate, completed in less than six months, was inaugurated on Monday, November 3, 2025, in Kaduna.
According to the developers, the project marks a historic shift in Nigeria’s housing sector by demonstrating how modern prefabricated technology can deliver high-quality, affordable homes in record time.
Each of the 100 homes was built to last over 50 years with proper maintenance and features tarred roads, drainage systems, clean water, and steady electricity, providing a comfortable and sustainable environment for residents.
Governor Sani, while commissioning the project, described it as “a symbol of hope, stability, and empowerment for widows who have endured hardship.”
He said 100 energy-efficient homes have been distributed to indigent widows under the pilot phase of the initiative.
“This project stands as a testament to our shared commitment to inclusive growth, social justice, and the upliftment of the vulnerable,” the governor said. “Each home represents renewal and belonging.”
He commended the Honourable Ministers of Budget and Economic Planning and Housing and Urban Development for their support and expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his “visionary leadership” in advancing social housing across Nigeria.
Governor Sani reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to bridging Kaduna’s housing deficit through strategic partnerships with local and international investors.
He highlighted other ongoing developments, including the Qatar Sannabil Project for victims of banditry, the Nuru Suraj Ungwar Dosa Extension, and the Urban Shelter Millennium City Project.
“Our investor-friendly environment has attracted major institutions, including the Nigerian Air Force, the Nigeria Customs Service, the NDLEA, and the Federal Housing Authority, all embarking on housing projects in Kaduna,” he added.
The Family Homes Funds described the Kaduna project as a milestone that “ushers in a new era of sustainable, fast, and affordable housing delivery for Nigerians.”
