A delegation from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has visited Yobe State for a two-day fact-finding mission aimed at strengthening collaboration on stabilization, service delivery, and resilience-building.

The visit, held between November 11 and 12, 2025, followed earlier engagements between Governor Mai Mala Buni and the British High Commission on enhancing security, governance, and human development in the state.

Governor Buni, in a statement, commended the UK FCDO for its ongoing partnership, saying:

โ€œYobe State remains committed to providing an enabling environment that will ensure collaborative efforts to promote peace, strengthen essential services, and enhance community resilience.โ€

The delegation also paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana (Wazirin Fune), who reaffirmed Governor Buniโ€™s commitment to โ€œdeepening partnerships that foster stability, growth, and community well-being.โ€

During the mission, the UK team conducted assessments on community resilience, access to health and education, and institutional coordination, while exploring new avenues of partnership with the state government.

At a briefing with the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), discussions centered on protecting critical infrastructure and sustaining service delivery in vulnerable communities.

Site visits included the Yobe State Teaching Hospital, General Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital, and meetings with the State Security Adviser, DSS Director, and Commissioner of Police, focusing on strengthening coordination and emergency preparedness.

The FCDO team also held discussions with UN OCHA to align humanitarian and development interventions, reaffirming the UKโ€™s commitment to supporting inclusive recovery and sustainable peace across the Northeast
