In a significant development, Universities across Nigeria have come to a standstill as the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) joins the nationwide strike initiated by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).

ASUU President Emmanuel Osodeke announced the union’s decision, directing all branches to mobilize their members.

This move is intended to amplify the strike’s impact and demonstrate solidarity in the demand for fair wages and affordable utilities.

The indefinite strike, beginning on June 3, 2024, is a response to the government’s failure to renegotiate the minimum wage and reverse the recent hike in electricity tariffs.
