Vanguard’s Ndahi Re-elected NUJ Borno Correspondents Chapel’s Chair

Comrade Inusa Ndahi Marama Vanguard’s Senior Reporter for Borno and Yobe states, has been re-elected as the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Borno Council.

He secured victory over Mr Gbenga Akinbule of Gatekeepers Online, following the 2025 triennial congress held at the NUJ Centre in Maiduguri on Saturday.

According to the Electoral Committee Chairman, Mallam Uthman Abubakar of People Daily Newspaper, Ndahi garnered 14 votes, while Akinbule received 12, with one vote invalidated. Abubakar declared Ndahi the winner.

Dogara Bitrus of Channels TV also won the position of Assistant Secretary, defeating Atiku Galadima of Tribune Newspaper.

Hamza Suleiman of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) was elected vice chairman unopposed, and Ismail Alfa of the New York Times was re-elected secretary unopposed.

Ahmed Mari of Champion Newspaper became Financial Secretary, Francis Okoye of Leadership Newspaper became Auditor, and Bilyaminu Yusuf of Radio France International became Treasurer, all unopposed.

The opening ceremony was attended by Borno State Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Aliyu Chamalwa.

Also present were Governor Babagana Zulum’s spokesperson, Mallam Dauda Iliya, and other officials.

These officials pledged to continue collaborating with journalists as vital partners in peace and national development.
