Vice President Kashim Shettima leads Nigeria’s delegation to the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
In a statement on Saturday, September 20, 2025, by Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, the Vice President is scheduled to join other world leaders in a general debate from Tuesday, September 23, to Sunday, September 28.
Shettima will deliver Nigeria’s national statement on behalf of President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
Nigeria is also expected to announce its new Nationally Determined Contributions under the Paris Agreement at a special climate event hosted by the UN Secretary-General on the same day.
“VP Shettima will also attend a special event on climate for heads of state and government to be hosted by the UN Secretary-General,” Nkwocha said.
The Vice President will also attend a high-level roundtable on affordable housing hosted by the President of Kenya before travelling to Frankfurt, Germany, for a meeting with officials from Deutsche Bank.
