Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday, September 8, 2025, condoled with the people of Borno State over the Boko Haram attack on Darajamal, Bama LGA, which claimed dozens of lives.
In a statement signed by Stanley Nkwocha, his media aide, Shettima described the killings as โa profound loss to both the state and the nationโ, assuring that the federal government would intensify the fight against insurgents.
โI extend my heartfelt condolences to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, the people of Borno, and the Nigerian military over the tragic loss of our compatriots,โ he said.
โThese deaths have left the entire nation in grief, but we are confident justice will be served.โ
The Vice President said President Bola Tinubu had directed the Armed Forces to review their operational strategies, deploy advanced surveillance equipment, and increase the use of drones in counterinsurgency.
Shettima also highlighted ongoing discussions on the creation of state police, stressing the need for specialised security units familiar with local terrain and culture.
He offered prayers for the bereaved families and pledged sustained federal support to Borno State in overcoming security challenges.
