Biography and Early Life

Alhaji Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN) was born in Birnin-Kebbi, Kebbi State, 54 years ago.

He studied law at the University of Jos, Plateau State, where he obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree.

He later attended the Nigerian Law School, Lagos, and was called to the Bar, officially beginning his professional legal career.

Professional and Legal Career

With over 25 years of post-qualification experience, Turaki has built a strong reputation in both the private and public sectors.

He is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and serves as the Principal Partner at K.T. Turaki & Co., Solicitors and Advocates.

He also holds the position of Chairman of the Board of Trustees of various institutions and has contributed to multiple presidential committees, cementing his influence in national governance.

Beyond his professional achievements, Turaki is the holder of the traditional title Dan Masani, reflecting his cultural and community standing.

Political Journey

Alhaji Turaki’s political career spans several decades. He previously contested as a gubernatorial candidate in the 2011 Kebbi State Governorship Election, demonstrating his longstanding engagement in Nigerian politics.

On Monday, 4th February 2013, he was appointed Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by then-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, and by Wednesday, 6th February 2013, he assumed office as the Minister of Special Duties in the Presidency.
