YEDC Announces 4-Day Power Outage in Maiduguri from Tuesday

The Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) has announced a planned power outage in Maiduguri and surrounding areas between Tuesday, November 4, and Friday, November 7, 2025, from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.

In a statement signed by the management of YEDC and issued on Monday, November 3, 2025, the company said the outage will enable engineers from the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to carry out the 3rd Semi-Annual Inspection on the gas turbine at the Maiduguri Emergency Power Plant (MEPP).

According to the statement, the inspection is part of the Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA) aimed at ensuring reliable and improved electricity supply in the region.

โ€œThis exercise is necessary to maintain the safety and efficiency of our power system,โ€ the management explained.

โ€œWe sincerely appreciate our customersโ€™ patience and understanding during the period.โ€

YEDC assured residents that the power supply will be restored immediately after the maintenance work is completed.
