Yobe Gov’t Debunks Report of Youth Destroying Billboards in Damaturu, Demands Apology

,

The Yobe State Government has refuted a report published by Daily Trust Newspapers alleging that youths destroyed billboards in Damaturu during the launch of the State Agricultural Empowerment Programme.

According to a statement released by Mamman Mohammed, Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to the Yobe State Governor, the report is “false, inaccurate, and misleading.”

The statement clarified that the event was a success, with no incidents of violence or rancor reported. Instead, some youths scrambled for leftover materials such as flex posters, iron rods, and carpets, a common practice after political rallies and public gatherings.

The Yobe state government hence, the government has demanded an immediate withdrawal and apology from Daily Trust Newspapers for publishing the false information, emphasizing the need for ethical journalism practices.

No further details or comments were provided at the time of this report.
