,

The Yobe State Government has commenced the distribution of multi-billion naira in agricultural equipment, seeds, and agro-chemicals to farmers in the state as part of its agricultural empowerment program.

The distribution, which began in five local government areas of Zone A, including Yunusari, Geidam, Bursari, Tarmuwa, and Gulani, covered 1,590 farmers and will continue in Gujba and Damaturu.

Over 1,060 male farmers received equipment such as hand ploughs, powered hand tillers, multi-purpose threshers, and solar-powered pumps, among others, while 530 female beneficiaries received three small ruminants each.

The ceremonial launch of the program was performed by Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni stated that a total of 5,300 farmers across the 17 local government areas will benefit from the program, aimed at improving agricultural productivity, ensuring food sufficiency and security, and stimulating economic growth.

The governor warned against the abuse and sale of the equipment, directing security agencies to impound and arrest persons moving the equipment out of the state.

Beneficiaries commended the governor for the initiative, saying it will enable them to expand their farmland and improve their economy.
