Yobe Govt Flaggs-off first round of 2024 MNCHW/SODs campaign

The Hon Commissioner Yobe State Ministry of Health and Human Services Dr Muhammad lawan gana has today 20/05/2024 Flagged off the Maternal Neonatal Child Health Week with integrated outreach (MNCHW/SODs) campaign.

The Commissioner, represented at the occasion by the Committed Executive Secretary of the State Primary Healthcare Board, Dr Babagana Kundi Machina said the overall goal of the maternal new born child health week integrated with State Outreach Days SODs was to deliver a package of high impact, low cost maternal and child survival interventions.

Dr Mohammed Lawan Gana said the measure was meant to ensure a 90% Coverage of all the deliverable interventions during week long event in addition to reaching out to the last mile with essential immunization and PHC services across the State.

He said, “This administration of His Excellency Hon Mai Mama Buni CON provides quality and effective health care services to women and children irrespective of sociology economic background through the free drugs scheme and other health services to all pregnant mother,children under 5years,and accident victims in the State.

“This has no doubt reduced the morbidity and mortality of both mothers and children in the State.’

The Commissioner also called on all parents and caregivers to visit all the designated health facilities where the integrated health services are  provided in the State.

The Executive Secretary Yobe State Healthcare and Health Related Facilities Inspection and Monitoring Agency (YOHFIMA) Dr Yusuf Bukar Ngamdu while speaking on behalf of the Executive Secretary Yobe State Primary Healthcare Board Dr Kundi Machina said the agency and development partners considered the weeklong event as not only timely but proactive to improving the public health indices by providing services to underserved communities and vulnerable populations especially women and children.

“The overall purposes is to reduce maternal and under five morbidity and mortality to improve the maternal and child survival indices in the State.

“On behalf of the State Government and good people of Yobe State, we acknowledged the support provided by our implementing Partners.This round of MNCHW/SODs implementation was made possible through the support of Yobe State Government, UNICEF, World Food programme, ACF International, Save the Children international,PLAN International,Action Aid Nigeria,Ghiv Africa,CDC Afenet,East of,Labdi,Mary Dinah Foundation, ALIMA, FHi369 (Alive and Thrive), WHO,Taimako CDI and Many others,” Dr Kundi emphasized.
