Following the recent attack on Mafa town by suspected Terrorists, the Yobe State Government has launched an emergency response to address the displacement crisis of 2,390 people in Tarmuwa Local Government Area.
A team led by Hon. Commissioner Ahmad Buba, accompanied by Hon. Mohammed Lamido Musa, Executive Chairman of Tarmuwa, and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) team, visited the temporary shelter site for displaced persons in Babban Gida Town.
The attack resulted in two fatalities, five injuries, and the displacement of 475 households, affecting 2,390 people from four communities within Mafa Ward, including Mafa (275 households), Bangaro (95 households), Ngoyo (65 households), and Billiri (40 households).
The Yobe SEMA team, in collaboration with partners, is conducting a rapid assessment to address the immediate needs of the displaced persons, focusing on essential food items, non-food items, and ensuring safety and dignity.
The Yobe State Government assures a swift and comprehensive response to the needs of the displaced individuals during this challenging time.
