The Yobe State Police Command has announced the arrest of two notorious kidnapping suspects, Babaro Baushe, 40, and Umaru Dau’a, 25, both from Askuwari Village, Tarmuwa Local Government Area.
This is contained in a statement issued by SP Dungus Abdulkarim, Police Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Police Force, Yobe State Command, on Wednesday.
The suspects were apprehended by the Dapchi Divisional Police Headquarters on April 9, 2025, at approximately 5:00 AM.
They are identified as members of a gang that specialises in kidnapping for ransom and demanding with menace, operating in the Dapchi and Tarmuwa LGAs.

Police investigations have linked the suspects to several violent crimes, including an attack on Badegana Village on November 21, 2024, which resulted in one fatality.
They are also accused of kidnapping and forcefully collecting N250,000 from Kudi Ibrahim of Askuwari Village on March 10, 2025, after threatening to abduct or kill him.
The suspects have, according to the statement, confessed to their crimes, and further investigation is ongoing at the State Investigation Department (SID).
Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, has commended the officers involved in the arrest and has directed intensified efforts to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
He has also urged the community to provide credible information to assist the ongoing investigation.
