The Yobe State Police Command has announced the recovery of stolen domestic animals, including 47 sheep, 4 rams, 2 goats, and 1 donkey, totalling 54 animals.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer for the Yobe State Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
The statement disclosed that the recovery followed the arrest of a 38-year-old suspect, Ibrahim Umaru, from Jammel Village in Jacusko Local Government Area.
He was apprehended on December 5, 2024, during a police patrol in Babbangida, Tarmuwa Local Government Area, while in possession of the animals.

Preliminary investigations suggest the animals were stolen from the Nigeria-Chad border region.
Despite local circulation efforts to identify the rightful owners, the police command is now appealing to the wider public for assistance.
Individuals who have lost domestic animals in the Nigeria-Chad border area and its environs are urged to visit the Tarmuwa Divisional Police Headquarters.
Claimants are required to provide credible evidence of ownership for immediate collection of their livestock.
The arrested suspect, Ibrahim Umaru, has already been arraigned in court and subsequently convicted for the crime.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, has commended the efforts of the officers involved in the recovery and encouraged the public to promptly report any missing items or belongings to the nearest police station.
He emphasised that timely reporting significantly aids the police in conducting swift searches and facilitating the potential recovery of stolen property.
