Yobe State Drug Agency Seeks Emir’s Support to Fight Fake Drugs, Build New Warehouse

The Yobe State Drugs and Medical Consumables Management Agency (YODMA) leadership met with the Emir of Ngazargamu, Alhaji Ahmad Tijjani Ibn Saleh, on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2024.

The YODMA team, led by Executive Secretary Pharmacist Abdul-Aziz Garba Mohammed, sought the Emir’s support for the agency’s activities, particularly the planned construction of a new medical warehouse in Geidam town.

Agency Highlights Goals, Seeks Collaboration

Pharmacist Mohammed outlined YODMA’s role in regulating, procuring, and distributing drugs and medical supplies across Yobe state.

He mentioned the agency’s existing warehouses in Damaturu, Potiskum, Gashua, and Nguru, with plans for a new one in Geidam.

He emphasized the importance of traditional institutions like the Emirate in promoting healthcare awareness. He requested the Emir’s support, especially considering the planned Geidam warehouse project.

Emir Commends Buni, Calls for Collaboration

The Emir expressed gratitude to Governor Mai Mala Buni for establishing YODMA. He urged development partners and donors to further support Yobe’s health sector.

The Emir advised YODMA to prioritize the state’s needs and deliver its mandate with passion and patriotism. He stressed the need for collaboration between the state and federal governments, along with development partners, to combat the spread of fake and substandard drugs.

The YODMA team presented the agency’s operational guidelines and relevant documents to the Emir during the visit.
