The Zamfara State Government has constituted a standing committee to assess and provide support for victims of banditry, Deputy Governor Mani Malam Mummuni announced Wednesday.
The committee is mandated to deliver immediate interventions within 48 hours of any attack, conduct field assessments of damages, account for victims and displaced persons, and recommend strategies for rehabilitation and prevention.
“The committee will justify the confidence reposed in us,” said Mummuni, who serves as chairman.
“We will ensure victims receive timely support and that long-term measures are developed to reduce future incidents.”
Other members include Speaker of the State House of Assembly Bilyaminu Isma’il Moriki as vice chairman, several commissioners, the Emir of Anka, and security advisers.
The committee will submit periodic reports to the Secretary to the State Government.
