The Borno State Police Command has confirmed the deaths of three children in Kaleri, Mafa Local Government Area, after their bodies were discovered inside a parked car.
Police spokesman ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso said Friday that the children were reported missing on September 23 by their parents, Baba Zannah Jaridama and his neighbour, Muhammad Bukar.
Despite initial investigations and alerts, their whereabouts remained unknown.

On September 24, Jaridama returned to the Kaleri Police Outpost to report that the corpses of the missing children were found inside his Honda Civic car.
“Police operatives swiftly mobilised to the scene and evacuated the victims to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed them dead,” Daso said.
The bodies were deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.

The victims were identified as Anwar Baba Zannah, 3; Mama Baba Zannah, 1 year and 5 months; and Ahmed Muhammad, 5.
Commissioner of Police Naziru Abdulmajid ordered a discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and extended condolences to the families.
“The Command urges members of the public to remain calm and continue to cooperate with the Polpolice providing credible and timely information,” Daso added.
