Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has approved the appointment of key officials to lead the Borno State Hajj Commission.
According to a statement released by the Governor’s spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, Alhaji Mohammed Dawule Mainok has been appointed Executive Chairman, and Honourable Haruna Kukawa will serve as Vice Chairman.
Alhaji Dawule Mainok previously held the position of acting Executive Secretary of the defunct Borno State Pilgrims Welfare Board, while Honourable Kukawa is a former member of the Borno State House of Assembly.
Further appointments include Honourable Abatcha Umar and Alhaji Haruna Mari as full-time members, and Mohammed Ali Ahmed as secretary.
These appointments adhere to Sections 4 and 5 of the Borno State Hajj Commission Law 2024, and are subject to confirmation by the State Assembly.
Governor Zulum also approved the appointment of six part-time members: Sheikh Abubakar Kyari, Khallifa Abba Allamin Banki, Barrister Ahmed Abdulkadir, Sheikh Gambo Kyari, Hajja Safiya Lawan Ibrahim, and Alhaji Yusuf Ali.
The appointed officials will serve an initial four-year term, with the possibility of reappointment.
The commission will operate under the supervision of the Deputy Governor’s office, the statement confirmed.
