Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, travelled to Biu town on Sunday to express his condolences to his Deputy, Umar Kadafur, and the Emir of Biu, Alhaji Mustapha Umar Mustapha II, following the death of the Kadafur of Biu, Alhaji Kadafur Aliyu Usman, the deputy governor’s elder brother.
Zulum, who had just returned from Saudi Arabia for Lesser Hajj, despite sending delegations from Saudi Arabia, chose to make the personal visit upon his return.
“We are here to condole with you and the entire people of Biu for the loss of our elder brother and a very calm gentleman who you will never hear words from,” Zulum said at the Emir’s palace.
“I was away when it happened, but my deepest sympathy and heart are with you and the entire people of Biu.”
Zulum recounted his last visit to Biu, expressing regret at not meeting the deceased before his passing.
“We really lost a good man. During my last visit in Biu, I told him we should meet before I leave, but he didn’t turn up because Allah has destined that I won’t meet him,” he said.
He and his entourage prayed for the deceased and for fortitude for the bereaved family before returning to Maiduguri for other official duties.
The governor was accompanied by APC Deputy National Chairman Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, Hon. Bukar Talba, Commissioner for Local Government and Emirates Affairs Hon. Sugun Mai Mele, and Special Adviser on Religious Affairs Sheikh Modu Mustapha.
