Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has launched the construction of 100 houses in Azare, Hawul Local Government Area, on Wednesday, March 12th, 2025.

This project is part of a larger 600-unit housing scheme for teachers across five local government areas, aimed at addressing the state’s housing deficit for educators.

During his visit to Hawul, Governor Zulum also inspected the progress of two other significant projects: the permanent site for the newly established National Orthopaedic Hospital, Azare, donated by the Borno State government to the federal government, and the construction site for the new General Hospital in Shafa.

Governor Zulum expressed satisfaction with the community’s support for the orthopaedic hospital project, noting that it bodes well for the facility’s long-term sustainability.

“The most important takeaway from the engineer’s briefing is that the community is supporting the project,” Zulum stated.

“With this commitment and support, I am sure there will be a very good mechanism for sustaining the management of the hospital.”

He assured that the reconstruction work would be completed promptly, allowing for the hospital’s official handover to the federal government.

“On my part as the governor of Borno State, I will continue to do my best to ensure this project has come to fruition,” Zulum reiterated.

“I will meet with the newly appointed CMD tomorrow and discuss the way forward, most importantly. I will see the minister for health and then discuss their budgets. As regards the take-off of this hospital, Insha Allah, we shall do everything possible to ensure that it takes off within the next two or three months.”

Governor Zulum was accompanied by key officials, including APC Chairman Bello Ayuba, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, and other senior government and party members.
