Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has expressed deep condolences to his deputy, Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur, on the passing of his elder brother, the Kadafur of Biu, Mai Aliyu Usman Kadafur, also known as Ya Mai.
Zulum, currently in Saudi Arabia for the lesser Hajj, also extended condolences to the Emir of Biu, Mai Mustapha Umar Mustapha II, and the people of the Biu Emirate.
In a statement released by his special adviser on media, Malam Dauda Iliya, Zulum described the deceased as “a huge loss not only to the Biu Emirate but to the entire state and region.”
“Indeed, to Allah we belong, and indeed, to Him we shall return. This is a great loss not only to the Biu Emirate but to the entire state. My heartfelt condolences to the Deputy Governor, Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur, the Emir of Biu, and the entire people of the emirate over this huge loss,” Zulum stated.

He praised the late Kadafur as a “bridge builder and peace advocate” who contributed to harmonious community relations.
Zulum also noted his “simple and selfless life worthy of emulation” and said he would personally miss his “invaluable advice and guidance”.
Mai Aliyu Usman Kadafur, 67, passed away on Friday after a brief illness and was buried in Biu town according to Islamic rites.
The funeral was attended by numerous dignitaries, including Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan and the Emir of Biu.
