The Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum has reiterated its unwavering commitment to revamping education sector despite the meagre resources
Zulum stated this while commissionning six new secondary schools constructed by his administration in Maiduguri yesterday.
The governor also unveiled a “build back better strategy” aimed at increasing enrollment of new students.
The newly commissioned schools were equipped with modern teaching facilities and sporting complexes.
They are Government Day Secondary School, Maiduguri; Government Day Secondary School, 777 Housing Estate;
Government Day Secondary School, 1000 Housing Estate; Government Junior Day Secondary School, Wulari; Government Day Secondary School, Bulabulin Diyabe and Government Day Secondary School, Gonindamgari.
As part of the build back better strategy of the government, “We are also launching the distribution of school items for 100,000 students who will be enrolled in public schools across the state for the 2024/2025 academic session in a bid to enhance retention of learners in schools.”he said.
The State Commissioner for Education Engr Lawan Abba Wakilbe said the Zulum Administration has completed and is on the verge of completing approximately 120 mega schools within the next year.
“I want to reassure you of our unwavering commitment to revamping the education sector in our state by providing access to quality education for every less privileged child.
” I sincerely want to thank you for
providing a befitting permanent site for Government Day Secondary School, Maiduguri-a school built in the 1980s
that has operated from a temporary site for four decades.”Wakilbe noted.
